Pyotr Alexeyevich Kropotkin (1842-1921) was born in Moscow to a prominent family of minor nobility. He was one of the world's foremost anarchistic communists. Kropotkin advocated a communist society, free from central government and based on voluntary associations between workers. In addition to his Memoirs, he wrote on a variety of subjects. The text of this Folio edition is based on the first English edition published in 1899 by Smith, Elder and Company.
